They produce the oxygen we need to live. They absorb carbon dioxide, they eliminate pollution they provide us with coolness and shade and they produce food and control erosion.

Here are the huge trees known in the world today

Hyperion, Helios and Icarus

The largest tree in the world the largest living tree is a redwood of more than 380 ft (feet) discovered by Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor in Redwood National Park in California in 2006. Hyperion looks like a soldier. It survives on a hill, rather than growing on a floodplain. The duet which discovered Hyperion is also at the origin of the discovery of 2 other sequoias in the same park: Helios (380 ft) and Icarus (374 ft). These 2 giants had dethroned the previous record held by Stratosphere Giant, considered then as the largest tree in the world with its 367 ft.

General Sherman

This huge and venerable tree is located in Sequoia National Park in California. Its trunk measures between 6 and 6.5 ft in length. This giant sequoia is neither the largest, widest, nor the oldest living tree known. But with a height of 270 ft, a diameter of 23 ft, it is the largest. Not to mention its respectable age: between 2,300 and 2,700 years old. This is one of the longest lives for a tree on the planet.
